SOPHIE'S STORY

Big Al’s has always jumped at the chance to work with Doernbecher, but for me, the partnership is incredibly & overwhelmingly personal, too; my beautiful six-year old daughter Sophia is a Doernbecher baby!

In late May 2013, Sophia was born with a Congenital Heart Defect. Leading up to her birth and for the first six months of her life, my wife, Melissa & I practically lived at Doernbecher. Sophie ultimately underwent three open-heart surgeries before she was even four years old – there’s no question to me the Doctors & Nurses at Doernbecher literally saved her life. The care Sophie received was second-to-none, but more than that, the Doernbecher staff also cared for my entire family during what was beyond an incredibly stressful & difficult time.
